My name is Steve. I'm 45 years old. I have been on crack for 18 years. I spent the last year living on the streets of Seattle addicted to crack and heroin. One day last November (2005), I was sick from drug withdrawals. No one could help me, and I cried out to God for help. It was a day I'll never forget. One day later, I was detoxing at my mother's house in Pennsylvania. A month later I was in Waypoint Center. Since then, I have been back in touch with my 3 children. Two weeks ago, I had a visit from my sister and mother, my daughter, and two of my grandsons. I feel like I have a family here at WayPoint. And I am closer to God than I've ever been.

Steve Y. Pennsylvania

I am 23 years old. From the age of 14 I started using drugs, starting with LSD and pills, moving to marijuana, heroin, cocaine and meth. I lived on and off drugs until 10 months ago, when I came to Waypoint Center. Since I have been here, Jesus has continued to heal me from years of deep wounds. His healing power has moved through my family. And my parents and brothers are finding freedom as well. He has shown me my true self, a resurrected man in Christ. Love ya'll.

Matt W., Marietta, Georgia

My name is Swain...I have a wife and two little boys. Just before my first son was born I fell into my addiction again. It was so much worse the second, time around. I hid my addiction from my wife for the past three years...God revealed my addiction and my wife and boys left. I came to Waypoint Center, and now I truly know God has a purpose and specific reason for having me here at this time. By the grace of God, I see a brighter future and one my boys will be proud of. I am so thankful for the opportunity that I'm being allowed to receive. As hard as it is, it is the best thing that I ever could have done for me and my family.

Growing up a preachers kid, I always knew God had a calling on my life. At the age of 15, I started running from my calling and medicating my misery with heavy drug use. Finally, 22 years later, I hit rock bottom and became too tired and too miserable to run any longer. I recommitted my life to God and asked to be in His perfect will for my life. Thankfully, He led me to Waypoint where I'm learning to live a life that is pleasing to Him.

Shawn N., Georgia

I came to Waypoint Center from the streets of Asheville, NC. I've been doing drugs for 22 years, trying to stop, but I couldn't, until I cried out to God. And God heard my cry. And He put a minister, Sheryl, in my life and she helped me get here to Waypoint. That's when God started working and talking in my life. I am going to follow God and His Word. And know He is the way, the truth, and the life. I love you, Jesus.

Tony O. Charlotte, NC

My name is Chad. I've been trying to break an addiction to drugs and alcohol since I was 17 years old. I'm 37 now. And I'm six months clean and sober. In the past, I've attended seven other world reknowned treatment programs and never found God there...It wasn't until after a severe overdose and nearly fatal suicide attempt that I came to know the ministry [of Waypoint Center]. It's the first place where I've heard God's voice clearly, without question. It wasn't until I put a name and a face onto the "higher power" concept that the other treatment centers taught me that I began to get freed up from my chemical dependence and receive healing and see the ones I hurt receive that healing too. The name and face I gave my higher power after coming to this ministry was Jesus Christ. And in all my years of trying to kick my chronic drug habit I have never been as hopeful as I am now. I never dreamed that the Jesus Christ I used to make fun of and look down on would still, after that, reach out to me and call me out to a new life. I'm learning to really live now and not just "exist". Live in freedom, being a helpful presence in my relationships and not a harmful one. I'm able to look people in the eye today and it feels good.
